Case Study: Extensive Permeative Bone Loss

A CBCT scan showing extensive permeative bone loss to buccal and central left mandibular body as described. Appearances most compatible with osteoradionecrosis.

CBCT does not optimally assess the surrounding soft tissues, and given the patient history of trismus, formal post contrast CT or MRI was advised to assess surrounding soft tissues for any further pathology.
