Dr Andrew Dawood (MRD RCS(Eng) MSc BDS), Specialist in Periodontics and Prosthodontics and dental implant surgeon will be delivering the educational session: Guided Surgery: when, how and why on 24 April 2017, meeting at 6:30pm at Cavendish Imaging Birmingham or online at 6:45pm.

Andrew qualified from The Royal London Hospital in 1984 and followed this with hospital appointments at Guy’s Hospital, UCLH, the Eastman and Great Ormond Street. He went on to study for a Master’s degree in Conservative Dentistry at Guy’s Hospital and in 2000 was accepted on to the Specialist Register in both Prosthodontics and Periodontics.

Andrew has been placing dental implants for more than 25 years, and this has become his particual area of interest and expertise. He teaches and lectures extensively in the UK and abroad, and devotes time to R&D in Implant Dentistry, 3D imaging and 3D mn=anufacturing with several of his innovations patented, at times usiing his own designs of implants which are specially manufactured for particularly challenging cases. Andrew has honorary appointments at UCLH, Barts and The Royal London Hospitals, Chelsea and Westnminster and The Moorfields Hospital, where he is involved in advanced implant treatments for patients requiring jaw or facial reconstruction. He has also contributed to the developments of new technologies, including introducing CBCT to Cavendish Imaging services. He is passionate about transforming the treatments for patients with advanced problems to make surgery less invasive and more predictable.

This lecture is aimed at all surgeons, prosthodontists and general dental practictioners actively involved in implant surgery, no matter their level of experience.

Aims:

This presentation aims to show how to use guided surgery to provide faster, more predictable and less intrusive treatments for our patients. Andrew will discuss and demonstrate how and when to use guided surgery, and will also explain his particular decision making process and approach to treatment.

To show some of the opportunities and beenfits that may stem from the use of guided surgery, facilitating an integrated approach to planning and treatment.
